The 1st Airlift Squadron is a unit of the 89th Operations Group. Its mission is to transport on demand for government business high-level dignitaries (or VIP's, "Very Important Persons") of the United States Government other than the President. The term Air Force n becomes the call sign for the aircraft when the VIP is on board, where n is an integer excluding one, which would be the president. However, the President would always be transported by the Presidential Airlift Squadron.
